Children’s Liturgy of the Word
We are working to bring Children's Liturgy of the Word back to Church of the Holy Cross. Volunteers are needed, and as soon as a team can be formed, this program will take place during the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday Masses.
Children ages 5-10 are called forth by the priest and leave the Assembly with a trained Leader to one of the classrooms in the lower level of the Church. A lectionary with the same readings in a language more understandable to children is used to proclaim the First Reading and the Gospel. The Psalm is heard in music written for children, with a simple refrain they can sing. Children reflect on the readings by answering questions from the Leader. Children return at the Offertory after saying a simple Creed.
