Hello Holy Cross Friends and Family:
The Parish Festival is celebrated in September on the Sunday before or after the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. The day begins with the Mass and continues with a festival that may feature activities such as crafts, ethnic foods, bingo, carnival games, sports, and dancing. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help run booths and set up the festival.
Open to parishioners age 55 and over, Sunshine Club meets the first Sunday every month for breakfast and a business meeting. Monthly social activities include Royals games, picnics, potlucks, outdoor breakfasts, dinner theaters, races, boat rides, and holiday celebrations. The Sunshine Club provides support to its members during times of illness through the telephone and prayer committee. An Honor Guard for members’ funerals is provided if approved by the family.
Be a part of a Catholic, Family, Fraternal and Service Organization that offers a variety of programs and activities for the entire family. The Knights provide service to the Catholic Church, our communities, families, and youth.
This group meets once a week on Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the church hall. They do crafts and handiwork to raise funds for the parish and to make donations to charity.
Meetings are held on Monday evenings. A camp-out is held one weekend a month, and a week-long camp takes place during the summer.
The Holy Cross couples bridge group meets monthly, usually the second Saturday. Two tables play at different members’ homes each month, September through April. During the evening, members rotate partners. The last session in May is a dinner and awards night.
The Sunday morning nursery provides childcare on Sundays during the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses. The Sunday nursery serves children 1-year-old-and-walking through Kindergarten. Adult and youth volunteers are scheduled to staff the nursery.
Marriage Encounter emphasizes improving communication between husband and wife, away from the distractions of everyday life, in a loving, private atmosphere. Marriage Encounter is for good marriages and for any couple desiring to better their marriage.
Married couples are needed to help provide Marriage Preparation for couples seeking the Sacrament of Matrimony in our parish and region.
When an individual or family joins Holy Cross, we want them to know how glad we are that they are here. The Welcoming Committee makes sure that our new parishioners receive a personal phone call of welcome, answering any questions they may have about Holy Cross. Twice a year the Committee also hosts a reception for new parishioners and parish leaders.
Women of Holy Cross (WHC) functions as a support group for the parish both spiritually and physically. Activities include funeral dinners, monthly Coffee & Donuts after three Sunday Masses, and managing the church kitchen. WHC also sponsors both spiritual and social events for all women of the parish. All women of the parish are members and can become active by joining a Circle or by calling the President of WHC to be included in a planning group or on a volunteer list. WHC is funded by donations, Circle contributions, and individual dues which are collected in parish envelopes in September.
Any woman of the parish is welcome to join one of our six Circles of friends. New members are welcome in any stage of life. Circles are involved in planning and hosting many parish activities, such as monthly Coffee & Donuts after Mass and the annual Spaghetti Dinner. Each Circle meets monthly and has its own officers and goals and may host family gatherings, fund raisers, and special projects. Both daytime and evening Circles are available. WHC will be happy to help you find a Circle right for you.
When requested, WHC provides food for families of deceased members of the parish. The funeral luncheon may be served at the church hall or food can be delivered to the home. Meat is provided by WHC and volunteers provide a dessert, salad, or vegetable dish. If you would like to be on the volunteer list, please contact the WHC Funeral Dinner Chairperson. Donations are accepted.
