Welcome from Troop 251!

Our Troop is chartered by the Church of the Holy Cross (CoHC) in Overland Park, KS, which is in the Trailhead District of the Heart of America Council. Troop meetings are held downstairs in Lickteig Hall, rooms 5. Troop 251 has been an active Boy Scout Troop since 1972.

Our Troop meets Monday nights from 7— 8:30 PM except on national holidays when school is not in session. A few highlights from previous years include: TH District Camporee; BS Summer Camp; Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, KS; Canoeing at Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, KS; Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE; Winter camping at New Lancaster; Biking the Katy Trail in MO; Making and baking cinnamon rolls and selling live plants for Scout / Troop fundraisers; Providing community service to CoHC for events such as the Parish Festival, Sunshine Club Breakfast, and St. Helen’s Circle Annual 1st Friday in Lent Shrimp Boil.

The Troop stays up-to-date on the pertinent agenda items at hand through many forms of communication on a weekly and monthly basis. In August, the adults gather to plan the Troop calendar for the coming year.

In the Boy Scout program, the boys complete activities and earn advancement through participation in Scout meetings, campouts, merit badges done individually or through forums, Scout Spirit, community service projects, etc. At the Troop meetings, senior Scouts and registered adult leaders provide training activities and demonstrations. Parents are invited to become involved in the scouting program as Assistant Scoutmasters, Troop Committee members, and Merit Badge Counselors. These opportunities are open to both male and female parents. Scout program and leader training is available. Parents are encouraged to join our Troop campouts and other Troop activities. Many times, adults are needed for these events to occur.

If you're interested in learning more about our Troop or you'd like to join, please contact our Scoutmaster, Sean Wilde.

Thank you for visiting Boy Scout Troop 251!
