Sleeping with the Fishes
What a rush camping out at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo aquarium. After a nice drive from the church we arrived early to have pizza at Old Chicago in downtown Omaha Old Market. We arrived in time to check in and get our instructions. That night we had a night hike through the aquarium and then the Creatures of the Night under the Desert Dome. Was interesting to see the various night animals in and out of the water. After a late night snack we settled into our sleeping area. Most slept in the Shark tunnel, but a few braved the Penguin area. The scoutmaster was not happy with the party the penguins had during the night as he was sleeping also in that area. Saturday morning and up at 6 am, quick breakfast and packing. Off to the day hike, we visited the Cat house, Orangutan complex and the Gorilla valley building. All very interesting and educational. Then we had the zoo to ourselves for the rest of the day. Was great to have the zoo mostly to ourselves, but the down side was all outside exhibits were closed. We had a nice ride home and looking forward to next months campout. |
